It was neglected by winemakers for years, but in the last few decades many have begun to take it more seriously, resulting in some delicious, approachable red wines. Winemaker Sam Bilbro crushes and ferments whole Barbera grape clusters, which adds a spicy note to the wine and accentuates the very minimal tannin. It's a surprisingly savory Barbera, with flavors of black cherry, plum, balsamic, rosemary and thyme.
